I Got Stranded at a Bar

I had a friend who I thought I would know for the rest of our lives. But last night changed everything.

Deb is one of my senior friends and she invited me to a retirement party of the boyfriend of her longtime girlfriend, Ingemar. I word it that way because Deb absolutely despises Igmar's boyfriend, Tony.

I am always up for a party and was happy that Deb invited me as well. (I met Ingemar when we went to Haulover Beach)

So as the party goes on, Deb gets our pieces of cake and places them on our table. I get up and turn to our server at the bar, as it was right behind our table, to ask her for another drink. As I am standing, Deb lets me know that she had gotten napkins.
I turn to Deb and say, "Ok." and then I turned back to my conversation with our server.
Deb yells, "I got the napkins, D!"
I clearly said back, " I'm talking!"
Deb yells back, "YOU SHUT UP!"
I got my beer and sat down. I told Deb, "Don't you ever yell at me like that in public!"
Deb wagged her finger at me and started yelling at me. At this point, my ears turned off and I said, "Stop pointing your finger at me!" Deb did not stop, so I slapped her wagging finger away from me.
Deb stood up, as she was yelling more at me (mind you in front of all these people that are Ingemar and Tony's friends) and then
Deb said, "I'm leaving, find your own way home!"
Deb stopped off and said something to Ingemar and then left the bar.

While Deb was talking to Ingemar, I approached Ingemar so that Deb could hear, and maybe take back her statement about me finding my own way back home. I told Ingemar, Deb told me that I had to find my own way back home and asked her if she knew anybody that would help me.

Nice job, Deb, leave me stranded, at a bar that I have never been, with people that I have never met, all but Ingemar once, AND the bill for your drink and food!

So once I realized that Deb really did leave, I asked the server to bring me my bill and that if Deb did not pay her, then she had walked out on it. The sever rushed out the door to find Deb. Our server rushed back in and I saw her talking to what seemed to be a manager.

Ingemar did find me a ride. As I exited, I told Ingemar of Deb's pending bill, gave salutations to Tony, and left with my ride.

The last time I lost a friend, was twenty years ago.


Oh well, C'est La Vie.

Something to Think About

When you are feeling alone like no one cares, read this because its absolutely true:
Every night, someone thinks about you before they go to sleep. At least fifteen people in this world love you. The only reason someone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you. There are at least two people in this world that would die for you. You mean the world to someone. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look. Always remember the compliments you've received. Forget the rude remarks.
